We teach Martial Arts with the goal of physical development as well as character development. In the words of Goju-Ryu founder Chojun Miyagi, “Do not strike others, and do not allow others to strike you. The goal is peace without incident."

A ‘Dojo Kun’ is the creed or set of guiding principles that a Dojo (training hall) is founded upon. Peaceful Heart’s Dojo Kun is comprised of five statements.  The Dojo Kun that we employ at Peaceful Heart, is said to have been created by Gichin Funakoshi, 'the father of modern karate'. When we recite these principles, you may notice that they are each numbered one. This is to reflect that each principle is just as important as the others.
